Self Portrait

This is my latest work in progress.I am painting from a photo with not much of drama.
Thought of painting a self portrait.

  1. Your self-portrait is coming along nicely! Can't wait to see it finished. Great color choices

  2. You're a handsome man, Rishi!

    But....

Your jawline in the painting looks a touch too small compared with your real life photo posted on your blog.

Yours appears to be much more fuller and masculine than the portrait IMHO.

  5. a very sensitive piece of work, Rishi. Self-portrait artists have to paint from photos - or mirrors - we can't paint from life! only ever from a 2D image. But don't worry too much about getting every detail to look a photo. You already have the photo, so why create a second one? Use a phocopier.

Far more important is 'making a good painting', in my opinion. And that means letting your own living feelings and insights come through in your painting. I feel that has been achieved with this portrait. I love the tender melancholy around the eyes.

Florentina , a beautiful lass on a bright sunny day.
My wife selected this picture which I enjoyed painting.
I love the vibrant colours . The best part I painted the major part of the painting in two hours.
I guess I am improving.
